Local commerce and responsible consumption

Workshops designed and organized for the Concellaría de Economía Social e Emprego of the City Council in March 2016 in collaboration MaOs Innovación Social and the Catalan association Options, which publishes the magazine of the same name and which is currently elaborating a “Plan to promote responsible consumption” for the Barcelona City Council. For all this work we have the participation of Marcial Blanco (cooperative Zocamiñoca).

The conference is divided into three acts and a market, the four held in the Municipal Market of St. Agustín:

  • On Wednesday 9 opens the workshops the lecture of Isidro Jimenez “The consumer society, does it consume us?”. Isidro was one of the founders of the project ConsumeHastaMorir, who was born under the association Ecologists in Action, he works in the field of media and participates in several investigations into the legitimacy of the social advertising. He is co-author of many articles, books and publications as Contrapublicidad (Libros en Acción, 2009), and El negocio de la responsabilidad (Icaria, 2009).
  • On Monday 14 we will have an open discussion with the title “What consum model we want for our city?”, to which we call on all types of entities and consumers, producers and traders. The purpose of this debate is to open a dialogue and exchange ideas on the situation of the rights of consumers, on overall consumption and introduce aspects of the “new consumer culture.”
  • On Tuesday 15 we will have from 11h to 20h a market that we call the #NovaCulturadoConsumo and to the local and organic products market already present there every Tuesday we will add a series of information stands on different alternatives of consumption and social economy. Finally, the same day at 20h Toni Lodeiro, member of Options and author of “Eat less, live better”, will join us with his workshop “Conscious consumption to live better? 1001 questions and a lot of practical ideas. “
